Finance Engagement
A positive outcome of the Finance Strategic Transformation project was the collaboration between schools, units, and central finance that grew during the time we worked on the implementation together. Although the project has drawn to a close, that collaboration will not.
After the project, members of a diverse array of the finance community across Grounds continue to meet for conversations around the ongoing improvement of Workday Financials adoption and enhancement of the system.

Not only have we built a fully-staffed Finance Solution Center to assist you, but also, we have web-based training, quick reference guides, and helpful hints within the system itself that are available around the clock on the Workday Financials Training page. User Success Agents within the Finance Solution Center track your case so that you receive the answer you’re seeking as quickly as possible.

Finance Advisory Committee meets quarterly. The purpose is to share high-level updates and build consensus among schools and units. One member from each school and unit participates in the group to answer questions and understand school and unit needs.

Continuous Improvement Focus Groups meet ad hoc for a finite timeframe. They are business-process focused, with the purpose to achieve a deep-dive understanding of an issue and identifying opportunities for improvement and brainstorming solutions with a representative subset of stakeholders. These cross-functional finance collaborative groups identify and share best practices across Grounds.
Two localized Continuous Improvement Pilots are underway. Read more about these on the Continuous Improvement page.
The Business Intelligence team recently launched a dictionary of business terms and, moving forward, this dictionary will be the source of truth for business terminology at UVA. You can find the UVA Business Terms Site here.
