UVAFinance supports the University of Virginia's mission through strategic financial leadership, responsible stewardship, and exceptional service. We partner with faculty, staff, and University leadership to provide the financial systems, expertise, and guidance that help advance UVA's missions of education, research, health care, and public service.

Financial Stewardship at Scale

We help steward the resources of one of the nation's leading public universities. The University operates on a $7 billion annual budget, maintains a net position of more than $15.5 billion, and has earned a AAA bond rating from all three major rating agencies for more than two decades.

What We Do

Our work spans financial planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting, procurement, treasury, tax, payroll, travel and expense, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, data and analytics, and enterprise financial systems. We provide the information, tools, and services that help the University make informed decisions, manage resources responsibly, and operate efficiently.

Leadership & Planning

  • Lead financial management and stewardship for one of the nation's premier public universities.
  • Develop the Academic Division's annual operating budget and long-range financial plans.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to University leadership and the Board of Visitors.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce the University's annual audited financial statements and quarterly financial reports.
  • Maintain a comprehensive framework of internal controls, financial compliance, and sound business practices.
  • Support responsible financial planning and investment aligned with UVA's commitment to affordable excellence.

Systems & Services

  • Deliver modern financial services and technology through Workday and the OneUVA initiative.
  • Help simplify and strengthen financial operations across the University.
  • Provide trusted reporting, analytics, and decision support that empower leaders across UVA.

Community & Support

  • Build an informed and connected financial community through training and conferences.
  • Share timely information through online resources, blogs, podcasts, and peer networks.
  • Make finance more strategic, more connected, and easier to navigate for the University community.
