Auxiliary Units are units that provide goods or services to students, faculty or staff for a fee. They are units that are required to be self-supporting meaning they must bring in enough money to cover their costs.
How can I tell if my area is an Auxiliary?
If your area is part of an academic unit within a school, you are not an auxiliary.
You can verify this by looking at the Designated associate with your area. If the Designated is associated with a Fund that is an Auxiliary Fund, your area is an Auxiliary.
Here is how you can find that information:
In Workday:
1. Type FDM Reference – Designated in the Search bar.
2. Select OK (do not add anything in the fields).
3. Select the Designated column header.
4. Type your Designated number in the Value field.
5. Select Filter.
6. Review the Default Fund for Designated name.
If it includes the word Auxiliary or AUX, that Designated is associated with an auxiliary.
If the word Auxiliary or AUX are not part of the Fund Name, then that Designated is not associated
with an auxiliary.
