A new Senior Sourcing Specialist recently joined the procurement team: Garrett Morris will focus on athletics and service-based commodities in his role as a buyer and contract negotiator.
Morris has a wealth of experience in both procurement and athletics. He spent the previous ten years procuring every commodity for athletics at James Madison University. "I did the whole gamut at JMU," he says; "from apparel to IT to even capital construction and equipment."
With a degree in history and political science from Bridgewater College, the Virginia native originally wanted to be a history teacher and coach, but his love of athletics led him into the procurement department at JMU and his career took off in that field.
Morris is happy for a new opportunity to grow in his chosen field, and to be able to take advantage of the flexibility UVAFinance offers in terms of its working environment. He and his wife, Charissa, who is a veterinary technician, enjoy both gardening and flyfishing and often take flyfishing trips out west. The couple are high school sweethearts who have been together for 17 years and married for six years. They have two dogs, Elwood and Opie.
