The University is committed to maintaining a safe work and learning environment for its faculty, staff, and students. Despite significant recent progress in combating the threat from COVID-19 with a quickening pace of vaccinations among University personnel, both domestic and international travel, especially in confined communal spaces such as airplanes and trains, along with the prospect of the emergence of new vaccine-resistant COVID variations, warrant continued caution while undertaking travel on behalf of the University.

BOV-021

Establishes requirements for the University’s capital and operating reserves to ensure, from a stewardship standpoint, that there is not a large deferred maintenance requirement for the institution and that the operations for each program are financially able to withstand a significant downturn in the generation of revenues.

FIN-055

The University of Virginia recognizes the critical importance of international travel by faculty and staff for University-related purposes in the areas of education, research, and service. In order to adequately support the health, safety, and security of University employees traveling internationally on University-related business, the University is implementing a requirement to register the itineraries and contact information for all international travel by University faculty and staff.

FIN-007

Specifies the facilities where catering functions must be provided by University Catering Services. Describes the purpose and different uses for University Catering services.

International travel and related exports of University equipment, software, or proprietary information are subject to University policy (FIN-043) and US laws on export control in addition to University travel policies and procurement rules. A license from the US government may be required for travel or exports to certain countries. The University’s Office of Export Controls will assist travelers in obtaining any license necessary to support university travel.
